Fiber

Fiber is the basic unit of a textile structure.

Usually, fibers are several thousand times longer than they are thick. Most apparel fibers range in length from about 15 mm to 150 mm, and the thickness tends to range from about 10 μm to 50 μm.  (with exceptions: for example, flax ranges up to 500 mm and sometimes even longer.)

A filament is a very long fiber. The length of filaments may range from a few hundred meters, as in the case of silk,to several kilometers in the case of man-made fibers. The thickness of filaments tends to be similar to that of fibers.

Traditionally fibers have been subdivided into natural fibers and man-made fibers.

Nature fibers are defined as those occurring in fiber form in nature:plant fiber and protein fiber.

Plant fiber: cotton, flax; the most widely used is cotton fiber, which comes from seed hairs, cotton is the most widely used of the natural cellulosic fibers and is well known to most consumers.

We have cotton yarns in OE 8S-20S, ring spun 20S,30S,40S.Vortex 30s 40s 50s.

protein fibers: wool, silk, alpaca, angora, mohair, cashmere. the two major protein fibers are wool and silk. Wool is the fiber from the fleece of a sheep or lamb or the hair of a fur bearing animal; silk is the fiber extruded by the silkworm, in the form of a cocoon, for protection in its pupal stage. wool fibers are the more widely used, they provide warmth, a pleasant hand, attractive appearance, and resiliency. Silk, noted for its lustrous appearance and unique hand, has always been considered a luxury fiber.

Man-made fibers: polyester, nylon, viscose, acrylic, spandex, ect.we have dope dyed polyester ring spun 20s,30s,40s;28s/2 50%Viscose 30%Polyester 20%Nylon core spun yarn,100%Nylon feather yarn 1.3cm,2.0cm,0.9cm,which are very suitable for knitting sweaters.

Textile fibers have been used to make cloth for the last 4000 or 5000 years.they contribute to the hand, texture and appearance of fabrics, they influence the performance of fabrics and they determine to a large extent the amount and kind of service required of fabric.they are important.
